Ten Top House Cleaning Tips For Busy People Who Need Time For Themselves

In these cleaning tips I am going to show you some of the fundamentals of cleaning a house and keeping it clean. You will discover how to save masses of time and how to keep your house looking good.

Tip 1: Dust and dirt fall downwards. So always start your cleaning at the highest point and work down. If you do it the other way around you will simply be creating dust that will fall onto the areas you have already cleaned.

Tip 2: You don’t have to clean the whole of your house every day. It is better to do a little each day. That way it is less boring and less time consuming. Make out a schedule for your weekly cleaning tasks. You will find some examples on my website. They will allow you to do little and often with a clear conscience.

Tip 3: Wear protective gloves. Some cleaning agents can harm your skin and water will make it wrinkle. I use rubber gloves for wet cleaning and cotton for cleaning dry areas. Cotton gloves also help with the dusting.

Tip 4: Reduce clutter to the minimum. The more items you have to move as you go about your cleaning the more time it will take and the more things you will have to dust. I can show you how it is possible to train your family to want to be tidier. You may not believe this but it has worked in hundreds of households.

Tip 5: Don’t let dirt into your house. Most of the cleaning you have to do is caused by dirt that has come in from outside. So keep the dire outside. You can create a dirt-airlock that will greatly reduce the dirt that your family trample into your house.

Tip 6: Control your cleaning time. Allocate a limited amount of time for cleaning each day, then clean for that amount of time and then stop. Be ruthless about this. If you don’t get finished you will have to work faster next time and that will train you to be a faster cleaner.

Tip 7: Play music while you work. Good lively music will lift your spirits and jolly you along. It has been shown to increase productivity in factories. My friends and I believe it does the same in the home.

Tip 8: Use the best quality cleaning materials. Good quality dusters, vacuum cleaners and polishes do a better job than cheap brands. You want to feel proud of the results of your labors don’t you?

Tip 9: Clean the high usage areas of your house more often. In most houses the kitchen and the bathroom are the two rooms that get most usage and where cleanliness is most important. So clean these rooms at least twice a week. Some rooms get relatively little use so they need cleaning less frequently.

Tip 10: Don’t allow shoes and boots in the house. Make everyone take their shoes off at the door. This saves wear on carpets and prevents dirt and grime being trodden into the carpets. Stocking feet are much kinder on all surfaces.
