Area Rug Cleaning

Pro Clean will pick up, clean, and return your oriental or other area rugs to your home or office in as little as one week.

Some area rugs can be cleaned in your home or place of business. They will be cleaned according to our carpet cleaning procedures. Some rugs, however, should not be cleaned on location due to inherent cleaning dynamics and certain soiling conditions.

Uninformed carpet cleaners may needlessly ruin a rug from simply not knowing the potential problems of certain rugs. Pro Clean successfully cleans some of the finest rugs from around the world.

For a thorough cleaning of your fine rugs, Pro Clean will pick your rugs up and clean them in our specially designed cleaning plant. In-Plant cleaning offers many advantages:

  • It allows us to give it several treatments for a more thorough cleaning
  • It allows us to control the drying conditions
  • It enables us to use various tools to adequately clean the fringes and treat special types of rugs

We clean our in-plant rugs with our 9-Step Process:

Step 1: Pre-Inspection and Pick up

Pro Clean will determine as much as we possibly can about the type of rug and inherent qualities that may affect the cleaning. We will outline the expected results and cleaning “prescription”. Pro Clean will come to your home to pick up your rugs, or you can drop them off at our facility. As long as our minimum cleaning charge of $89.00 is met, we will pick up and deliver your rugs for free.

Step 2: Dry Soil Removal

Woven rugs, especially hand knotted rugs are designed to hide dry soil. A few years ago, the Eureka Company did a study and found that a 9 x 12 rug could hide 85 pounds of dirt! WOW! Pro Clean uses a variety of techniques to dust the rugs from the front and back. A machine called a pile lifter, special vacuum attachments, and many other methods are used. This is the most important step in cleaning any textile.

Step 3: Pre-Condition

Depending on fiber content and soiling type, the rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils.

Step 4: Pre-Spot and Fringe Preparation

Any potentially difficult spots will be pre-treated with special solutions to increase the chances of removal. The fringe is also pre-treated for maximum soil removal.

Step 5: Shampoo/Hot water Extraction

Most rugs are cleaned with an oriental rug shampoo that is especially designed to get maximum cleaning while protecting sensitive natural fibers. Some rugs are cleaned by hot-water extraction, which is the same method as our normal carpet cleaning. They are then evaluated after drying in the event further work is needed.

Step 6: Rinse/Wash

Depending on the type of rug, it will be rinsed with extraction equipment on both sides or washed in a wash pit designed especially for oriental rugs.

Step 7: Dry

Once the soil is rinsed away, the rug is dried flat or hung to dry in a controlled environment. Proper drying is essential to avoid unnatural shrinkage.

Step 8: Finishing

When the rug is dry, it is combed and finished with a soft groomer made for specialty rugs.

Step 9: Post-Inspection and Delivery

Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection and release it for pick up or delivery. Your rug will be wrapped in brown craft paper to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is picked up or delivered.

Please Note:

*Pro Clean will roll up and lay your rugs at your request. There may be an additional charge for this service. Our normal delivery time from the pick up date is 7 days.

*Pro Clean also provides commercial area rug cleaning.
